A Hawaii 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 2000 to raise public awareness about the importance of technology, energy, diversification and globalism to the future of Hawaii.  We do this with a TV show on OC16 ,  TV shows on Olelo, drive-time radio on KGU 760AM, and a column and blog in the Star-Advertiser, and by collaborating with the Hawaii Venture Capital Association on monthly luncheon panel programs of general interest to the business community.

As Hawaii’s tourism economy continues to normalize and real estate improves, we see signs of renewed activity in the construction sector. Kakaako, the virtual dead zone between downtown and Waikiki is showing signs of life with more than 1,200 units coming on line in the next five-seven years. Most of those units will be so called “affordable housing”. 

At our previous luncheon on the subject, developers were insisting that building up, that is constructing more high rise units was the solution. And that seems to be happening in Kakaako. Will this solve Hawaii’s housing problem? What are the opportunities for entrepreneurs to flesh out the “live, work and play” aspects of all this development?
